euromicron implements entire network, electrical and security technology for Campus Futura

ssm euromicron took care of expanding all the network, electrical and security technology as part of the Campus Futura construction project in Hamburg’s HafenCity. Among other things, the system house subsidiary of euromicron AG laid 193,686 meters of cable and lines and installed a fire alarm system with around 1,620 participants in the space of 17 months.

Hamburg’s HafenCity is currently Europe’s largest inner-city urban development project. This spectacular quarter, whose architectural highlight is the much-acclaimed Elbe Philharmonic Hall, is also home to the Campus Futura. The 15,875 m2 campus comprises the cutting-edge, seven-story youth and family hotel JUFA with an adjacent residential complex. There are also 13 commercial areas on the ground floor and wharf level of the building complex. The campus is rounded out by an event and restaurant area with a connected roof terrace. The construction project, which is managed by PORR Deutschland GmbH, dovetails with HafenCity’s sustainability concept in exemplary style: It boasts low resource consumption, permanently low running costs, and a modern feel-good atmosphere. The Campus Futura project has thus been awarded the gold Ecolabel for “sustainable construction in HafenCity”.

One foundation for the sustainable design of the buildings is the high-quality network, electrical and security technology implemented by ssm euromicron GmbH. euromicron AG’s system house subsidiary accomplished all the steps in this noteworthy infrastructure project – from planning to delivery to installation work for all the trades. Just the gross area of the campus (22,500 m2) and the basic infrastructure implemented by ssm euromicron (193,686 meters of cable and lines) are testimony to the scale of the challenge.

ssm euromicron installed the transformer, medium-voltage and earthing systems, as well as the low-voltage main distribution system and sub-distribution units, in the space of just 17 months. In order to ensure that power is supply in any situation, the  low-voltage main distribution system was split into a separate general and emergency power supply. As part of the electrical work, the entire network cabling for the digitally controlled lighting system for all indoor and outdoor areas was also laid. In addition, ssm euromicron fitted all the power cabling for the campus’ own electromobility infrastructure with ten EVlink charging stations for e-cars. The system integrator ensured safety with a fire alarm system with 1,620 participants and two control panels, more than 1,000 escape and safety lights, a voice alerting system, a smoke extraction system, special search and signaling systems, and the network technology fundamentals for IP-based video surveillance. Moreover, it implemented the doorbell and video intercom systems, as well as the TV and antenna systems for the complete site, including the associated data and transmission networks.

The customer’s verdict after completion of the extensive installation work was positive in every respect. “Successful implementation of the project is down to the highly punctual, masterly and reliable way in which ssm euromicron carried out its work,” emphasized Markus Pein, Hamburg Branch Manager at PORR Deutschland GmbH. “The network, electrical and security technology is top class and played a major part in ensuring that the builder-owner UBM Development was won over by the high quality of our services.” Jan-Philipp Kappler, Managing Director of ssm euromicron, is highly delighted about that response. “We’re proud that we were able to accomplish such a complex large project in such a short time and lived up fully to the trust placed in us.”
