euromicron’s subsidiary telent GmbH will create a single management platform for the 3S Center at Leipzig Central Station by the beginning of 2012. Employees at five workplaces in the control station will be able to use it to monitor and control all security and communications systems centrally. The order from DB Station & Service AG also comprises delivery, installation and commissioning of the system technology at two data centers as central units in the overall solution. The project has a volume in the single-digit million range.
The modular information, communications and application platform (Mica) developed by telent pools all security and communications systems in an integrated management system. Existing and new equipment and facilities, such as video cameras, emergency telephones and information pillars, as well as network management functions are integrated via standard interfaces in a single IP network. The overall system can be expanded and scaled as desired, enabling further locations and applications to be incorporated.
3S for Service, Security, Sanitation
Mica maps workflows at the 3S Centers exactly and supports them with predefined and automated processes. The platform improves operational and security-related processes and enables passengers, service and security staff or emergency forces to be informed and coordinated quickly.
“Mica offers the 3S Centers maximum flexibility and scalability for their current and future requirements,” says Dr. Stefan Kindt, Managing Director of telent GmbH. “telent has both the technical expertise and experience to successfully accomplish such projects for DB Station & Service AG.” The company is also responsible for delivery, installation and commissioning of the necessary system technology.
Nationwide project
The project in Leipzig is part of nationwide modernization of the 3S Centers. Under the slogan “Service, Sicherheit, Sauberkeit“ (Service, Security, Sanitation), DB Station & Service AG is investing in a state-of-the-art system solution for controlling and managing the communications and security infrastructures at train stations’ 3S Centers. Telent rolled out the integrated management platform Mica in a pilot project at Munich Central Station back in 2009.
