Presentation at the special “Smart Factory” show stresses the issue of IT security
The euromicron Group will present its Industry 4.0 model factory at IT & Business in Stuttgart (September 29 to October 1, 2015). It has been specially tailored to the working conditions at production plants in the SME sector and is based on a highly available, secure network infrastructure. Special IT security solutions that protect processes and production data against external intrusion will likewise be presented in depth by euromicron.
The euromicron Group is to showcase the Industry 4.0 model factory from its subsidiary ELABO, together with IT security solutions to flank it from its system house subsidiary euromicron solutions, at IT & Business in Stuttgart from September 29 to October 1, 2015. The factory, which has been specially tailored to the working conditions of production operations in the SME sector, can be seen as part of the special “Smart Factory” show in Hall 1 (stand G41). It consists of a networked workplace system with integrated access control and IP video technology and is based on a highly available network infrastructure.

Controlled by a central information management system that makes all production data available throughout the company in real time, it provides a comprehensive insight into the processes and advantages of networked production. Digitization in the Smart Factory requires extensive IT security solutions to protect all processes and production data. They are implemented in cooperation with the technology partner Cisco Systems.
“Small and medium-sized enterprises are now showing a keen interest in Industry 4.0 solutions,” states Jürgen Hansjosten from euromicron’s Executive Board. “However, fears about a lack of security and availability repeatedly hamper more widespread implementation of it. With our model factory and its example of series production of small parts, we show that such fears are unfounded. The underlying network infrastructure and the IT security concept of our Smart Factory are cutting-edge in every respect and meet all the requirements demanded of a state-of-the-art production environment. Our solution thus enables small and medium-sized enterprises to take the step toward networking their production and achieve the associated competitive advantages in terms of agility, adherence to deadlines, quality of production and production costs. Our Smart Factory is already regarded by many observers as a model example of how to establish Industry 4.0 production in the SME sector,” emphasizes Hansjosten.
