Network infrastructure expert euromicron at CeBIT 2009
Quicker, more reliable and secure, larger volumes: the requirements demanded of applications in the Internet and in fixed-line and mobile networks for voice, data and video transport are growing rapidly, as are those placed on the transmission medium. Network infrastructure is being upgraded – in carriers’ wide area networks, in buildings, offices and industrial environments, even in the home. For the network infrastructure expert euromicron, CeBIT is the platform to present itself as a competent group to Germany and Europe.
Fiber is the old and new magic word that meets all these requirements, and euromicron is the network infrastructure expert that develops and manufactures the components for this and translates them into customized solutions of high quality and reliability.
Different applications demand a specialist with many years of broad experience to create tailored infrastructure measures that protect investment.
Fiber To The Home – an application for which demand is growing. The fibers are led from the passive optical network (PON) outside the building into the living-room, where modular customer premises equipment (CPE) from the brand MICROSENS® – a euromicron company – distributes the triple play applications. As a result, telephony, surfing in the Internet and TV over the Internet are made possible as a completely integrated, end-to-end fiber solution.
Fiber To The Office – the intelligent combination of copper and fiber: the optical fiber cable up in the stories, the copper cable from the dado trunking. Power supply? No problem! euromicron solves this with its own hybrid connector, the EM-RJ®, an elegant and reliable power over Ethernet solution.
A video surveillance system that is immune to interference and tap-proof is offered by the Fiber To The Video system – a solution from euromicron. The high bandwidth permits video streams that do not conceal the slightest detail as a result of technical restrictions. And if the video signals should be even more voluminous – for example in media and broadcasting applications –, euromicron has Fiber To The Satellite, a modular solution up to the fiber, on a cable drum and linked via the newly developed lens connector that withstands any harsh outdoor stresses.
Likewise the Fiber To The Industry application: mobile deployment of the optical fiber cable on the cable drum with a wall opening and wall-mounted splice box – whether in a building container or shop floor – is enabled: fiber technology is made ready for mass production thanks to euromicron. And where a through-the-wall solution is too complex, an empty pipe is enough to simply blow the fiber through in the Fiber To The Building solution. Alternative fixed-network operators in particular value this as a low-cost means of last-mile access to their customers.
Instead of an empty pipe, it is also possible to use a high-frequency waveguide, with which the antennas of mobile stations are fed today. Here, too, capacity limits are being reached, so fiber is called for. Fiber To The Mobile Station is the name of the solution: once it has been blown through the disused waveguide, the fiber reaches the transmission unit on the antenna – and so transports a far greater volume much more quickly for the mobile data application.
Despite a decline in the number of exhibitors, CeBIT 2009 in Hanover is still the world’s largest ITC trade show and is establishing itself once again as the center for office automation, information technology and telecommunications. For the network infrastructure expert euromicron, it is the platform for again presenting itself to its customers and the market as an expanding group – in spite of all the talk of a crisis! euromicron has made an excellent start to 2009 – not least thanks to higher investments in network infrastructure. By acquiring QUBIX at the end of last year, euromicron has gained access to the Italian market. In Austria, we are expanding the mobile activities of Cteam to include euromicron’s complete portfolio and are operating there under the name euromicron austria with immediate effect. euromicron austria’s management team is being strengthened by Managing Director Gerhard Schönhoff, who successfully marketed networks as all-round solutions for euromicron systems in Northern Germany.
“euromicron has expanded internationally and is growing with enormous force in its home market of Germany – thanks to its competence, expertise and experience as a provider of network infrastructure solutions that are in greater demand as part of the global drive toward rationalization and optimization. euromicron’s intrinsic expertise as a fiber specialist is now having a full impact and our investments in developing the company are beginning to pay off,” says Dr. Edgar Bernardi, the member of euromicron AG’s Executive Board in charge of Products, Market, Technology and Operations. “Backed by our strength in the German market, we are now leveraging our regional presence in Austria to drive network infrastructure projects there under a familiar name and with our expertise,” adds Bernardi. “An exciting challenge awaits me in Austria,” states Gerhard Schönhoff, the new Managing Director of the future euromicron austria GmbH. “Taking the success story of euromicron systems to Austria – following on from my earlier experience there and in neighboring Bavaria – would be an ambitious goal for euromicron and for me personally and one that I definitely want to achieve,” continues Schönhoff.
euromicron AG (www.euromicron.com) is one of the leading solution providers of high-tech network infrastructure for communications and security. Starting from its expertise as a developer and producer of fiber optic components, it has flourished to become a strongly growing, highly profitable group that, although listed on the stock market, has a medium-sized character, and is now focusing on operational growth, integration and further market penetration and expansion. The company expects to generate sales of €160 to 165 million in fiscal 2008. Including the acquired companies on an annualized basis, euromicron would post sales nearing €200 million, achieving the goal it set itself. Consolidated earnings in 2008 are of the customary quality.
Visit euromicron at CeBIT 2009 in Hanover from March 3 to 8, 2009, once again in Hall 12, stand C65! In our CeBIT show at the top of every hour, you can experience the magic of optical fiber technology and how playfully euromicron uses it to create sustained and reliable solutions.
