euromicron supports Cisco’s “openBerlin” Innovation Center

Faster development of practical IoT solutions

euromicron AG, an all-round solution provider for communications, transport, data and security networks for the Internet of Things, is a partner in the new “openBerlin” Innovation Center. The new Cisco site was presented on October 15 and 16. Apart from euromicron, more than 30 partners are working there on Internet of Things (IoT) projects for the fields of production, logistics and transportation in the B2B arena. Joint cooperation at the center is intended to shorten the time needed to develop practical IoT solutions. euromicron, with its subsidiaries ELABO and euromicron Deutschland, is contributing its experience and expertise in the field of Industry 4.0 (smart factory), network infrastructure and IT security to the Innovation Center.

IoT solutions have many faces and can already deliver competitive advantages to the companies that deploy them. The invited trade visitors discuss related approaches and strategies with representatives from business, science and academia as part of subject-specific expert panels. In an associated special show, the exhibitors demonstrate that digitization is no longer a future topic, but can already help companies achieve immediate and sustainable competitive advantages. euromicron is presenting a smart “service workplace of the future” networked using Cisco components in “openBerlin”. Special IT security solutions ensure protection of processes by means of production data gathered at the workplace. The service workplace has been specially tailored to the working conditions at production plants in the SME sector and is based on a highly available, secure network infrastructure.

“The main trends we at euromicron observe are toward customizability of workplaces. Novel forms of interaction, digital assistance systems and real-time networking based on powerful and highly available infrastructures are demanded. Our focus here is to support our customers – in particular those from small and medium-sized enterprises – in digitizing their business processes by means of innovative hardware and software integration,” states Jürgen Hansjosten from euromicron’s Executive Board. “‘openBerlin’ is a huge enrichment for Germany as a business location and for all players represented there. The fact that everyone is so close to each other is an enormous help in developing IoT solutions that can be used in everyday practice.”
