euromicron supplies network technology for Lower Saxony’s administrative agency

Around 150 locations equipped with switches, access points and network management systems

8,005 PC workstations of the Lower Saxony’s administrative agency, along with all associated server and network infrastructures, were modernized as part of the Niedersachsen Client (NiC) project. euromicron Deutschland GmbH equipped the agency’s locations with powerful core, access and desktop switches. Special management systems for controlling network access and network monitoring were also installed.

Standardization and modernization at Lower Saxony’s administrative agency: In order to achieve these objectives, the “Niedersachsen Client” (NiC) was rolled out in Lower Saxony. The NiC is a standardized workplace PC with uniform hardware and software that is run on a completely modernized network and server infrastructure. From when the project was launched on June 16, 2014, to mid-2015, the responsible state enterprise IT.Niedersachsen provided as planned a total of 8,005 new workstation PCs, along with the associated network and server infrastructures, at around 150 of the agency’s locations. A standardized working environment with optimized technology has been created as part of this project. IT services can now be offered more cost-effectively and above all more securely.

IT.Niedersachsen placed its trust in network infrastructure solutions from euromicron Deutschland GmbH in implementing these modernization measures. The system house subsidiary of euromicron AG has been a technology partner to IT.Niedersachsen and its forerunner, the former State Enterprise for Statistics and Communication Technology of Lower Saxony, for more than 10 years. As part of the NiC project, euromicron Deutschland installed and configured around 4,500 high-performance core, access and desktop switches to ensure smooth network connection for the workstations. Apart from modernization of the network infrastructure, key functional enhancements for network security and multi-service capability (VoIP readiness), as well as a central network management system for permanent monitoring and controlling, were also provided. As a result, euromicron was responsible for a large part of the complete modernization work for location-specific network infrastructures.

After the project had been completed, IT.Niedersachsen voiced its praise at how smoothly all the necessary measures had been accomplished: “The partnership we’ve forged with euromicron for over a decade now has proven its value once again,” emphasized Detlef Gnad, Head of Networks at IT.Niedersachsen. “In particular its pragmatic approach and ability to adapt extremely flexibly to the internal structures of administrative authorities are plus points in its favor and qualities we wouldn’t like to do without in future. As it is, we have no doubts about euromicron’s enormous expertise in network technology,” adds Gnad.
