euromicron presents its enhanced know-how at FTTH Council Europe 2011 in Milan

At this year’s FTTH Council Europe, which will be held in Milan from February 9 to 10, 2011, euromicron will present itself for the first time with its subsidiary euromicron NBG GmbH, Austria. The euromicron Group will showcase its entire product portfolio of passive and active network components and demonstrate its planning, engineering, project management and installation services in the FTTH arena.

At the end of last year euromicron, an all-round provider of network infrastructures, took over Leoni NBG Fiber Optics GmbH in Austria and  Leoni WCS Benelux B.V. in the Netherlands from the Nuremberg-based cable specialist Leoni in order to strengthen its expertise in high-speed Internet connections to the home of end customers. NBG Fiber Optics is an acknowledged company that has been operating in the Austrian market for many years and specializes, among other things, in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions.

Cooperation and new business models for FTTH expansion

The intensified collaboration between Leoni and euromicron has not only impressed the European FTTH community, but can also become a model for FTTH expansion nationally and in Europe.
By acquiring the two Leoni subsidiaries, euromicron is also strengthening its commitment in Austria and has gained entry to the FTTH market in the Benelux countries. Moreover, Leoni can rely on the backing of euromicron as a competent know-how and implementation partner in all FTTH projects and also focus on its core competences.

“It’s a classic win-win situation and is a must in view of the high level of investment required for comprehensive FTTH expansion in Germany and Europe,” states Thomas Hoffmann, a member of euromicron’s Executive Board.
In many talks in Milan, we will encourage the industry to drive expansion of fiber optics in Europe by means of cooperation linkups and as part of new business models. Fragmented networks should be grasped as an opportunity to leverage synergies between market players in order to advance the use of FTTH in Europe. “The FTTH Council Europe can and must continue to assume the task of speeding up fiber optic expansion in Europe,” adds Hoffmann.

euromicron presents the 2nd generation of its own fiber optic distribution and patch system eFOS in Milan

eFOS, which was developed by euromicron itself, optimizes flexibility and ease of use, offering ideal functionalities for laying fiber-optic connections.

The fiber optic distribution and patch system for passive optical networks is used as a termination solution in the central offices of FTTH networks. In addition, the 2nd generation of eFOS can be accommodated in standard street cabinets, thus helping to bridge the last mile. The great benefit for customers is that eFOS can be supplied preinstalled and with a blown-in fiber optic up to the splice cassette, slashing the time and work involved in installation.

The number advantages eFOS boasts have been further optimized, with the result that it now offers unique benefits in terms of maintenance and servicing.
